ATLANTIC SIGNAL ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF
NEW DIVEABLE (20 meter) TACTICAL HEADSET MODEL

July 2, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOPEKA, KS (July 2, 2007) Randall Hedrick, Director of Operations at Atlantic Signal, LLC announced today the addition of a new headset model to the company’s line of custom built tactical headsets. “I am pleased to announce the addition of the ‘Amphibious Assault’ tactical headset system to our product line. We began design of this product all the way back in the Winter/Spring 2006 and ultimately provided field trial prototypes to both U.S. and international military Special Operations’ teams in the summer of 2006. Field tests were performed utilizing the ruggedized THALES PRC-148 (MBITR-R) military portable. Tests were performed for nearly 8 months without a single field or laboratory failure reported,” Hedrick stated.

Hedrick continued, “It had been our desire, for several years, to develop an alternative headset system for our client base since their primary source of diveable tactical headsets came from Davies/Selex in England and their design has not been improved or upgraded, to the best of my knowledge, in well over a decade. We set out to develop the world’s first, 20 meter submersible, bone conduction, tactical headset – a goal, I am proud to say, we have accomplished.”

“The new Atlantic Signal Amphibious Assault diveable headset features the client’s choice from either the company’s MH180 or MH180-H upper headset frame designs. Depending on personal choice or helmet design, we chose to offer both the vertical and horizontal, stainless steel headset frame styles. The boom microphone features a new-to-the-market 20 meter submersible, electret-style, element for clear and concise voice transmission. Additionally we developed an ergonomically designed push-to-talk housing with 20+ meter submersible plunger switch. The PTT housing was designed to allow an operator the ease of finding the housing on his body, grasping it with a gloved hand and activating the switch with the thumb. While the raised PTT switch is easy to locate, we chose not to shroud it as it requires a fairly significant amount of pressure to be applied by the operator to activate as it must be able to withstand 35 pounds P.S.I. of pressure – the amount of pressure, per square inch, present at 20 meters (66 2/3 feet). The switch’s position is such that it will remain out of the way of contact with a gun sling or other form of equipment when positioned on the body. Because of its unique design, the PTT housing has a very natural feel when grasped in the hand. All-in-all, it is a highly ‘user-friendly’, push to talk design,” Hedrick advised.

“The ‘Amphibious Assault’ was designed for use with the Thales, ruggedized (20 meter) submersible, MBITR/PRC-148-R portable radio and is configured with the over-molded 10 pin radio connector. I am expecting to be able to offer the Amphibious Assault headset with the new Harris, 20 meter, portable radio as well however we have not had the opportunity to mate our new 20 meter headset to their new diveable portable as of the time of this announcement,” Hedrick added.

Hedrick concluded, “We received our first substantial U.S. Military Special Forces order this past week and will expose all of U.S. SOCOM to this product prior to the end of July. There is no doubt in my mind this headset will become one of the company’s most popular military models and will be used by client’s throughout both the U.S. and international Special Operations’ communities.”

Photographs and a purchasing specification will be made available soon on the company’s website.
